6oMethod® is a patented method created by dr Agnieszka Bolikowska. It's the first ever method devoted to adults who want to overcome their barriers in speaking. 6oMethod® was created on the basis of dr Bolikowska's scientific experience, spanning over 20 years, including at universities in the U.S.A., where she earned her doctorate (2012), and also on the basis of many years of experience teaching adults with the use of 6oMethod®. She has outlined her approached at a TEDx conference (2016). She has also published a book on 6oMethod®: 'Jak wreszcie zacząć mówić w języku obcym? Dla wszystkich, którzy stracili nadzieję' [How to finally start speaking a foreign langauge. For all those who have lost hope](Pascal, 2019). A German translation of the book will be published by Tologo in 2021.
6oMethod® teaches adults at-ease communication with an intermediate knowledge (A1+/B, B1, B1/B2) of any foreign language. It focuses on overcoming language barriers and opening participants up to effective communication itself, sensitising them to matters of relationality and diversity.
During language classes (which we call 'meetings with the English language') we find the space for personal experience, emotions, individual and group reflection, learning using all the senses, elements of mindfulness, the theoretical basics and knowledge of the world of languages and cultures, and also putting gained skills into practice. The meetings are run in three cycles made up of 8 1.5-hour long meetings each.
6oMethod® is effective because it works on the feelings of safety and comfort in order to deeply engage meeting participants – in later cycles, this also occurs on a psychological or even psychotherapeutic level. In this way, it unblocks and opens up to new possibilities to do with using a foreign language as well as – in the long run – one's mother tongue.
